What are the standard procedures with Dermatologists and people who come in for acne? What steps exactly do they take to determine whether or not the patient would need to be prescribed anything (accutane for example)?

Is a blood test needed (which is fine)? Would l have to come in regularly for a blood test? Is it only my face that they would check for acne or would they check my back, stomach and possibly genital areas?

Thanks.

Question Regarding Dermatologist

When u show ur lesions on the face the dermatologist will make a diagnosis if it is acne. He will not examine the other regions if u r not willing.
Then he will prescribe a mild drug for the first time & if that fails to cure the lesions or if there r new changes, he will change the prescription the next time u visit.

They will not require a blood test to diagnose acne.
But if he does not diagnose acne he will do a blood.
test /and/or an examination of a scraping of a lesion to make the diagnosis.
